Global Information Security Policy for the healthcare sector

Politique Générale de Sécurité des Systèmes d'Information de Santé (PGSSI-S) | 07 Jun 2016
Fast growth of the use of IT in the healthcare sector is a great opportunity for improving care quality. However, it comes with a significant increase in threats and risks on personal health data and on patient care processes relying on IT.
Being aware of those issues, French public authorities has produced a Global Information Security Policy for the healthcare sector (PGSSI-S for Politique Générale de Sécurité des Systèmes d’Information de Santé) in collaboration with representatives of each type of stakeholders: healthcare professionals, hospitals, vendors, government agencies (ANSSI for information security and CNIL for privacy protection)… Its application will reinforce trust in the health information system and support of all health actors (healthcare professionals, patients, vendors…).

PGSSI-S is applicable to all the actors, be them public or private, of health and community health sector (healthcare professionals, hospitals, vendors, services providers, ministry and public agencies…) as well as any services directly offered to patients (community health network and internet sites specialized in specific pathologies…). It is also aimed at helping vendors to develop secure product.
